In the autumn of 1857, NYC was in the midst of financial devastation which ruined the lives of many people.  However, unlike other times in American history, this brought a great conscious awakening among the people.

A lay minister, by the name of Jeremiah Lamphier, with a heart filled with compassion, fell on his knees and cried out to the Lord, "What would you have me do?"  The Lord spoke to his heart, and he put an advertisement in the New York Tribune about a Wednesday, midday prayer. This was the start of the last national revival the United States of America had. Pastor Bruce Berliner now teaches and help leads a Wednesday,noon day prayer at the approximate location of this last "Great Awakening". His soon to be released book,"The Wall Street Revival/In Progress"(December 2007) tells the amazing stories of how GOD is still changing lives . Pastor Bruce states,"I believe this may be the last opportunity for repentance , therefore revival in the United States of America or of judgment. I pray we choose revival!".Pastor Bruce quotes Psalm 127, which states, "Unless the LORD builds the house it is built in vain".  Pastor Bruce has teamed up with Pastor Leighton Smith  at Faith Evangelistic Ministries, located at 90 William Street.“The Underground Church is literally situated below street-level in the foundation of the building.  Pastor Bruce believes that is GOD'S symbolism. "We are laying the spiritual foundation,through prayer before the physical foundation is completed on the site of where the World Trade Center once stood , so this time the building will stand."The location of the New Freedom Towers is right in the same vicinity of where the New York Revival of 1858 took place and where Pastor Bruce is presently teaching.
